The members of Institute of Practicing Homoeopathy (IPH) along with their family members visited the Hahnemannian Monument is located right in the centre, on Richard-Wagner-Platz, of the heart of the Leipzig city, a University town in Germany, on 12th June, 2017. Here it belongs, because Hahnemann studied and lecturted in Leipzig. The Team IPH paid homage to Dr. Hahnemann.Dr. B. S. Mohan, Dr. D. V. Krishna Rao, Dr. I. Srinivas, Dr. V. SrinivasaBabu along with their family members visited the Memorial Monument. Mr. John, tour manger, Uniglobe tours arranged the memorable visit to this memorial.
Visit toKöthen(Germany)
The “Hahnemann City of Köthen” is situated at 70 km north of Leipzig. Samuel Hahnemann lived and practised in Köthen from 1821 until 1835, and it is here where the Chronic Diseases originated from in 1828. Furthermore, the “German Association of Homeopathic Physicians, (DZVhÄ”) was established here in 1829. The Homeopathy Foundation of the DZVhÄ and the Scientific Society for Homeopathy, WissHom“ are also based in Köthen. The LMHI was moved from its statutory seat from Geneva to Köthen in March 2013, Köthenhas been declared as the “Cradle of Homeopathy as well as the “World Capital of Homeopathy”.
The walking tour through Köthen started at 10:30 am. Along the way, we could learn about the history behind Dr Samuel Hahnemann and his living conditions, and we got to see the Hahnemann house.
The European Library for Homeopathy in Köthen is a key contact point for homeopaths from all over the world.

Dr Samuel Hahnemann was born in Meißen, Saxony, on 10 April 1755 as the third child of Christian Gottfried Hahnemann and his second wife Johanna Christiane Spieß. His father was a painter and designer in the famous Meißen porcelain manufactory. After finishing school, he moved to Leipzig in 1775 to begin his medical university education.

In Meißen, we first visited the Hahnemann Monument and the Hahnemann Square. At his birthplace we saw the memorial plaque and bust donated by DrSchwalbe in 1855.
Walking through the picturesque Old Town we followed the trails of Hahnemann’s childhood and youth and mount the castle hill which will take us to Freiheit 13 high above the roofs of Meißen.
Here we felt the spirit of the former St. Afra’s Priory with its church and school building and commemorate the importance of this place for Hahnemann’s education and work. Still today, you can admire Hahnemann’s guiding principle Sapere Aude over the entrance door of St. Afra.
Before moving on to Torgau we enjoyed a glass of Meißen wine in the historic Burgkeller (“castle cellar”).
From 1804 to 1811, Hahnemann lived in the Freihaus (free house”) in Pfarrstraße 3 in Torgau. Here he „brooded over quite a few for the good of humanity“, such as the Organon of the Healing Art and the first part of his Pure Pharmacology.
The International Hahnemann Center Torgau e. V. invited us to visit the new “Dr. Samuel Hahnemann Exhibition” displaying his life and work. Unique exhibits make this display a special one.
In 2014, the ‘Institute for the History of Medicine of the Robert Bosch Foundation’ acquired an unparalleled series of 50 letters by Dr. S. Hahnemann with instructions for a patient. For the first time in an exhibition, we can see selected pages including the corresponding transcriptions in Torgau.
